The Centre for Australian Studies in Wales has been awarded a research grant by the UK Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education to design and trial an online questionnaire aimed at investigating prior knowledge of Australia among students who choose to study Australia in the UK. It is intended that the data gathered will be used to enhance undergraduate curricula to take account of students' prior knowledge, attitudes and experience of Australia.
 
The project is being undertaken in partnership with Open Learning staff at the National Centre for Australian Studies, Monash University, and it is hoped not only that the methods and results of the project will be of general interest but that the project will act as a pilot for further studies both within the UK and abroad. The project is designed as a collaborative venture and the project team invites the active involvement of all those who teach Australian topics (contact a.hassam@lamp.ac.uk).
