Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), the premier graduate national university in India , has developed an Australian Studies program and is pleased to host a short term visiting teaching fellowship to any scholar working in Australian studies and based at an Australian university. JNU, with the assistance of AIC and the La Trobe University Institute of India and South Asia (LIISA), offers this position to one Australian-based scholar per year.
The position is intended to promote a deeper understanding of Australia at JNU, and in India in general, to provide a base for Australian scholars to undertake research, and to offer opportunities for research collaboration between Indian and Australian scholars on Australia , and India-Australia connections and comparisons. Applications are invited from Australian Academics with a strong record of teaching and research within the humanities and social sciences, broadly defined. The Visiting Fellow will be required to teach graduates on Australian Studies (totalling no more than 6 hours per week); to present conference papers; and to contribute generally to Australian Studies research and programs at JNU and other Indian universities.
TIME & DURATION: The visiting fellowship is for 4 to 6 weeks. The Visiting Fellow is expected to spend most of his/her time in New Delhi and on campus at JNU. The timing of the appointment is negotiable with the prospective candidate, JNU and the Selection Committee, but January to February is recommended.
AWARD: AIC provides return economy fares, per diem and miscellaneous expenses. The JNU provides on-campus accommodation and full academic hospitality, including resources for teaching the seminar.
