The annual meeting of the American Association of Australian Literary Studies will be held 6-8 April 2006 at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal, Quebec, Canada . The conference theme is " Australia and the Common-Wealth." The organizers' hope is that the meeting's Canadian location might prompt some papers that explore Australian literature in the context of the Commonwealth. They also hope that papers will consider the contributions Australian literature has made to the common wealth of global English language literature. But, as always, proposals on all topics related to Australian literature, film, and culture are welcome.

In 2006, as in 2005, AAALS will be meeting concurrently with the Australian-New Zealand Studies Association of North America (ANZSANA).
